The Government’s spokesman speaks on the possible Lockdown due to Covid-19

Today’s K24 Punchline Show hosted by Anne Kiguta interviewed the government’s spokesman Cyrus Oguna,who in his interveiw clearly stated that there won’t be a total lockdown in the country due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Mr.Oguna said that the government cannot declare a total lockdown since the virus has not hit the whole country.The government’s spokesman brought it out clearly that the government would have declared a total lockdown if the virus is declared a national disaster.
At the moment,covid-19 cases have only been reported in 7 counties of the 47,with Nairobi County heavily hit as it has reported most cases.

We don’t have to lockdown everything.It’s not a one man’s decision but a decision of a committe.All the agencies need to put their heads together.We have several options but Kenyans need to obey the directives issued to ensure the numbers remain where they are

Mr. Oguna said

He further stated that even if the lockdown is declared,it may not be a total lockdown but of the counties that have reported most cases.
As of today,Kenya has reported 142 cases of the covid-19,4 of which have recovered and other 4 have died.
