The Royal Media Services recently declared Wahiga Mwahura the immediate-replacement of Hussein Mohammed on quitting after 10 years of service.
The Big Question that arises is “Did Royal Media Services have an in-depth analysis of what’s at stake in posing a new interviewer and the impact it would draw to the News Night show? “
News Night known for keeping the politicians in the Kenyan Political Arena grounded via in-depth interviews has become a pace setter for other media houses thanks to Hussein Muhammed’s Interviewing skills.
With the short notice on Hussein Mohammed’s quit, how Citizen TV resulted to settling for Wahiga Mwaura for the opening is still a mystery, with their series of well known anchors like Yvonne Okwara and Lilian Muli among others.
This is not to discredit the fact that Wahiga Mwaura is known for his exemplary performance as a sports journalist.
He also posses various titles including BBC Komia Dumor Award, Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Annual Journalism Excellence (AJEA) three time Nominee, the CNN Multi-choice African Journalist of the Sports Category Award in 2012 and Mohammed Amin African Award in 2015.
Wahiga Mwaura hosted the show yesterday and he is already getting critics from viewers who didn’t spare their time to compare him to Hussein Mohammed.
The big question still remains, “will Waihiga Mwaura rise above the critics and pull this one off?”.
He will make it
